Police Complaint

The NRI Cell is functioning in Police Headquarters, Mylapore, Chennai. The NRI Cell headed by a Superintendent of Police, is functioning under the direct supervision of ADGP (L&O) and IGP (General) since June 2022. The NRI Cell handles exclusively the complaints of Non-Resident Tamilians and their family members.

The main function of the NRI Cell is to receive the complaints of NRI’s/PIO’s and assign reference numbers and will send the same to the concerned Police Station / unit for enquiry and monthly reports will be collected from the concerned. NRI Cell will monitor and communicate the action taken on their complaint. NRI Cell has no power to register FIRs and the same is being done by the local police station according to their jurisdiction on cognizable matters. The cell will guide the people who need repatriation to Tamil Nadu from abroad on various issues. Also help in Police Verification on visa or allied matters.
