Empowering the next generation of Tamil youth through quality education and scholarship support for deserving students from NRT families
The objective of the scheme is to provide better educational opportunities to the students from low income Tamil families whose parents died in abroad while working and to increase their interest in higher education and employment.
Children of Non-Resident Tamils from low income families whose parents died while working abroad are eligible. Applicants must be pursuing higher secondary, diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate studies in recognised educational institutions in Tamil Nadu.
Family income of the applicant should be within the prescribed limits notified by the Government from time to time. Registration with the NRT Welfare Board is mandatory.
The scholarship is granted for the entire duration of the course from Higher Secondary through UG / PG, subject to the student maintaining satisfactory academic progress and continuing in a recognised institution.
The scholarship is renewable each academic year on submission of the required annual documents and performance certificate.
The scholarship amount is fixed based on the course of study and the type of institution. It typically covers tuition fees, hostel charges (where applicable), study materials and a monthly stipend.
