What is the objective of this scheme?

The objective of the scheme is to provide immediate financial assistance to the family members of Non-Resident Tamils who died while working abroad, so as to help them cope with the sudden loss and support their livelihood.

Who are eligible?

The legal heirs (spouse, children or parents) of a Non-Resident Tamil who died while working abroad are eligible. The deceased should have been registered with the NRT Welfare Board at the time of death.

Family income of the applicant should be within the limits notified by the Government from time to time.

How much is the Death Assistance amount?

Death assistance amount is fixed by the Government and notified through the relevant Government Order. The amount is directly credited to the bank account of the eligible beneficiary.

The assistance is released after due verification of the death certificate and legal heir documents.

How to apply?

Login into your NRT Welfare Board account and select "Death Assistance" scheme. Fill in the required details, upload the death certificate of the deceased, legal heir certificate, income certificate and identity proofs.

Applications are processed on priority basis. Track your application status through your dashboard.
