Rules / Guidelines for Registration of NRT Associations

  • Two segments of Tamil Associations can obtain recognition namely:
    • Tamil Associations Abroad
    • Tamil Associations within India but outside Tamil Nadu
  • Documents to be submitted:
    • (i) Attested photocopies of the first meeting minutes with office bearer signatures (for associations abroad)
    • (ii) Copy of registration certificate under Charitable Societies Act 1860 attested by a Gazetted officer (for associations in India)
    • Bylaw of the Association
    • Name and addresses of members enrolled including e-mail IDs
    • Annual report and Activity report for the last three years
    • Audited statement of accounts for the last three years
  • Registration Fee: Registration is free of cost
  • Registration Number: Will be provided after the registration process is completed.
  • A category-wise list of registered associations will be published in the official website
  • No discounts or other offers would be provided for attending Government functions
  • No registered association would be permitted to use the emblem of the State Government or this Commissionerate
  • All recognised associations should renew their recognition every five years. Any change in office address and name of office bearers must be reported. Non-renewal will lead to automatic cancellation and removal from the website.
  • Application for renewal and address change can be obtained from this Commissionerate or the official website.
  • The Government/Commissionerate reserves the right to cancel any registration without prior notice or reason.
