Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced in a press release issued on 06.10.2021, that a “Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Board” will be set up to protect the welfare of Tamils living abroad and in other states of India. Also, Section 10 (1) of the Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Act, 2011 provides for the formation of a board for the welfare of Tamils living abroad. On the basis of this, through the Government Order No. 827, Public (R.H-2) Department, dated 24.12.22, a “Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Board” has been set up with 15 Government and Non-Government members.
