EnadhuGramam (எனதுகிராமம்) scheme is to improve the infrastructure of the hometowns of the NRT’s and to meet the essential needs of the villages like education and medicine.This scheme will be done through contribution from the Non-Resident Tamils.
Activities that can be carried out in their hometown by the Non-Resident Tamils
Improvement of infrastructural facilities of Primary Health Centre, Hospital etc.
Construction and improvement of Anganwadi, school and college laboratories, additional classroom buildings, canteen, perimeter wall, playground and libraries.
Construction and improvement of facilities like roads, bridges etc. in rural areas.
Provision of drinking water facilities, rain water collection tanks, reservoir tanks, drinking water pipe facilities, repair and maintenance of ponds etc.
To improve the quality of the library, to provide internet facility and to provide new books to help the students prepare for the competitive examination.
Construction of latrines, sewage canals and improvement of solid waste management to improve sanitation facilities.
Parks, fountains and other community buildings.
This contribution is not only financial but can be in any form like technology, sharing of experience and knowledge of their sector, employment and business creation and training for entrepreneurs. Every contribution will be processed expeditiously by the department with utmost transparency and full guidance of the government.
All necessary encouragement and assistance will be provided by this Government to the individual, organization. And the contributions received will be paid directly into the Government bank account and relevant certificates and documents will be issued.
Contributors will also be given complete information about the development work carried out through the funds thus received.
NRTs are welcome to contribute in any field like education, welfare and health, agriculture, drinking water, irrigation, road facilities, transport, women's protection, Tamil language development, environmental protection, industry and technology.
Every year a list of the contributions received is compiled and published as an annual report, and those who have made the best contribution are honored by the government on "Ayalakath Tamilar Dinam" celebrated on 12th January every year.
